Meet Siska Silitonga of ChiliCali

Meet Siska Silitonga of ChiliCali

June 10, 2021, Beatriz Aurelio

We are so happy to include ChiliCali's Sambal Red Hot Chili Base
in our Hot S.O.S. Box: The Phet Phet Pack!

About Siska

"I was born in Jakarta and have ethnic roots to the Batak people of North Sumatra. Community is important to me and I believe in celebrating contributions. I was inspired to use food as a bridge to create human-to-human connection and want to create a space at my dining table because I believe representation matters. A lot of us come here with survival in mind first, but now I have the freedom to contribute and raise awareness about Indonesian culture and cuisine. I believe in empowerment because being alone is hard, but when you have a community to helpĀ - you can go further."

ā€œTogether we stand, divided we fall.ā€Ā

ChiliCali is the food she cooks, sauces she jars, recipes she writes, and anything from her kitchen that represents her roots: Indonesia & California. Growing up in close proximity to the great outdoors, Siska has a deep devotion to sourcing sustainable, local, and healthy ingredients. She began cooking at a young age with her mother and mentor, a chef in Jakarta. She brought her talent and passion to San Francisco and became an Indonesian food ambassador. Her ultimate goal is to promote and raise awareness of Indonesian food and culture in the Bay Area.

She has beenĀ serving Indonesian inspired food through pop-up dinners and private events in SF Bay Area since 2015. In July 2021 Siska will open up her first restaurant, Warung Siska, in Redwood City!

Siska is a fellow food lover,Ā friend and mentor of Tuk Tuk Box. Plus, she has some šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„ sauces. Check them out at: chilicali.com
